Dear School District Parents/Guardians and School Community,
Westville School District would like to say thank to all the students and parents who helped close out this school year strong. All the remote learning activities that were eligible to improve student grades are now complete and the official school year will end this Friday May 29. Here are a couple of updates of activities going on this week.
Honors Day Presentations
Each school has put together short videos that announce scholarship recipients, honor roll members, class awards, perfect attendance, and other end of the year recognition. Please scroll through each video to see each school’s end of the year honor students.
Giacoma Honors Day Presentation
Each student name listed in the video will have honors day awards that will be available for pick up on Thursday May 28 between 4-6PM at Westville High School (for all grade levels).
Student awards that are not picked up at that time will be dispersed next school year.
Graduation Picture Pick Up
Each graduating senior and eighth grade student who participated in the virtual graduation ceremonies last week may come on Thursday May 28 between 4-6PM at Westville High School (for all grade levels) to pick up a framed copy of their 8x10 graduation photo. Student photos that are not picked up will be dispersed next school year.
End of the Year Classroom Materials Final Pick-up
Any student who did not pick up materials during the classroom materials pick up days will have one final opportunity to pick up these materials. Materials may be picked up on Thursday May 28 between 4-6PM at Westville High School (for all grade levels). Unclaimed classroom materials will no longer be stored by the district after this time.
Final Food Distribution Pick-Up
Any students who pre-registered to receive weekly food distribution will be available to pick up the weekly allotment for school lunch and breakfast on Thursday May 28 between 4-6PM at Westville High School (for all grade levels). This is the last scheduled food distribution day for this school year.
Conclusion
As we draw to a close this very unique chapter in the history of Westville School District, we recognize many questions remain about how and when school will resume for the upcoming 2020-21 school year. Unfortunately, at this time there are no definitive answers. The district will continue to operate in such a way that we are prepared for when students and activities can return to normal procedures, so that the schools will be ready and safe when that time comes. In the meantime, we will discuss and consider contingencies so that if a normal return is delayed, the students and schools will be prepared to address any challenges we can anticipate. Please continue to monitor the district website, social media pages, and district emails for the latest updates and we will communicate those updates when there is more information to share.
