Westville High School - Home of the Tigers

The WHS Golf Team completed a packed week of golf by shooting an electric score of 324 and taking home 1st Place Honors as a team at the Blue Ridge Invite at Woodlawn CC. Multiple Tigers took home Top 10 individual honors. So. Ryder Burns led the way taking home 1st place with a stellar score of 75. Jr. Damian Alvarez took 2nd Place shooting a 79. Jr. Christian Giles finished T3 with an 84. Jr. Kiptyn Appl rounded out the team finishing 10th with a score of 86. The team will be back in action in n Monday at Harrison Park for Senior Night starting at 4pm!

WHS Golf team has had a busy week coming out of Labor Day and have continued their historic season. Tigers started off on Tuesday picking up 3 wins in a close match but winning on a 5th score Tie Breaker. On Wednesday they shot their season low and lost their first match in another Tie Breaker but bounced back on Thursday where they came out on top to move their Record to 18-1!! The Tigers were led this week by Jr. Damian Alvarez, who medaled multiple times and averaged a 39 on the week, and So. Ryder Burns who also medaled and averaged a 40 on the week. The Tigers averaged 165 as a team. The girls also saw the course and notched their first win of the season on Tuesday and were led by Jr. Shelbey McCool. The boys will conclude their week tomorrow in Farmer City at Woodlawn CC by playing in the Blue Ridge Invite! Great job Tigers and keep up the great work!

Anatomy students are making sure their new material really STICKS! This week students practiced their regional terms of the body in a fun and hands-on way. They used stickers to test their knowledge, identify different body regions, and see just how much they could remember. Who knew studying anatomy could be this sticky?!

The Seniors of the WHS Chorus are ready for the first home football game! Let's go Tigers!!!

The WHS Golf Team kept its hot streak alive tonight on the course by shooting a season low score of 169. The team was led by So. Ryder Burns firing a stellar round of 37!!! This led the team to a tri-meet win and moving the team's record to 10-0! The team will be in action again next week!

WHS Golf kept up their busy schedule to start the season this week. Today the team competed at Turtle Run in the BHRA Invite where the team finished 4th out of 18 schools. The team was led by Jr. Damian Alvarez who shot a career low 77 earning him a tie for a 2nd Place finish individually for the tournament. He also led the team yesterday up in Hoopeston to a win to make the team 8-0 to start the year. The team will be in action again tomorrow at Harrison Park GC vs Danville and Rantoul/PBL at 4pm!

Our biology students got hands-on practice with lab safety, following procedures in the correct order, teamwork, and proper cleanup during our slime lab!

To make sure everyone was paying attention to each step, our procedures included some unexpected challenges—like singing, chanting, and even cheering on their partners!

The best part? Everyone got to take their slime home!

A fun lab with a lot of learning (and a little bit of mess) along the way!

The WHS Men's and Women's golf teams kicked off their regular season match matches this week. The Men's team has started in spectacular fashion posting a 5-0 record in two days. The Men's team Thursday was led by Jr. Christian Giles while Friday the team was led by a combo of Jr. Damian Alvarez and So. Ryder Burns. The Women's team was led on Friday by Jr. Shelbey McCool. Both teams will be back in action on Monday at Hubbard Trail GC starting at 4pm!

The Lady Tigers Golf team kicked off their season today with an 18 hole invite in Farmer City!! For half the girls, this was their first High School golf match. The Lady Tigers will see the course again Friday up in Hoopeston at Hubbard Trail at 4pm!

The Westville Boys Golf team kicked off the season today at Harrison Park GC in the Oakwood Bring 5 Scramble. Today was a long day that included over an hour rain delay. The guys played well but with all the rain the course got had a hard time finding their groove but they battled through. The boys will be back in action next Thursday while the Girls kick off their season on Monday in the Blue Ridge Invite!!

WHS Students taking Art for the 2026-27 school year, please review the Art Supplies Checklist. There are only 3 items students are required to have for Art class, the rest are optional/recommended materials for students who want their own during class.

Shout out to all of the Westville students who participated in theater productions this summer. It takes a lot of hard work. Congratulations on some great performances from Jackson and Ryan who were in DLO's Sweeney Todd, Belle who was in C-U's production of Annie, and Carson, Mina, Lidia, Alyssa, and Liza who were in DLO's Sponge Bob Square Pants. Awesome job everyone! Westville has a lot of talent!!

WHS Gol for the 2026 season starts Monday August 10 out at Harrison Park GC. There will be an informational meeting on Sunday August 2 at 6pm in the WHS Media Center. This meeting will cover all details for the season. There's a QR Code to join the Gamechanger app for communications. Attached is the tentative practice schedule. Congratulations to Lincoln Cravens for receiving a scholarship from the Vermilion County Retired Teachers Association.

Westville Tigers Baseball finishes the regular season this evening by going 22-12 as they defeated Leroy 15-5 in 6 innings. Now, the Tigers will meet Monticello at Monticello for the regionals on Thursday (May 28) at 4:30pm. Senior Matt Darling had 2 big hits with runners in scoring position as he belted a 3 run homer and a base clearing triple which added up to 5 RBIs. This effort earned Matt the Offensive Player of the Game. Jace Smith was the man on the bump and he was masterful...He retired 4 batters by throwing 10 strikes and only 4 balls (71%) and his pitch to contact style method worked like a charm. Jace was named the Defensive Player of the Game.
